The UK needs more physics teachers. Without them children are missing out on opportunities to develop their understanding of the world around them.
If more engineers decide to go into teaching physics then they will bring an innovative perspective into the classroom to help explain big ideas to young minds.
On 19 January 2023, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) will join with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) and the Department for Education (DfE) to host a webinar discussing the lack of STEM teaching skills in the classroom.
This discussion will also look at the knock-on effect this has on inspiring young people to pursue engineering careers and how engineers can bring new perspectives by becoming physics teachers.
