u-blox and the University of Bristol selected as finalists for the TechWorks Awards 2018

u-blox, a global provider of positioning and wireless communication technologies, and the University of Bristol are proud to announce their joint selection as finalists in the Research Collaboration category of the TechWorks Awards 2018 for their R&D project on Reconfigurable Wireless Transceivers for Global Connectivity.

Jim Connelly, Director, u-blox Cork said: “We are delighted to be a finalist, in partnership with the University of Bristol, in the TechWorks Awards Research Collaboration category. As u-blox’s Transceiver Centre of Excellence, u-blox Cork is highly focussed on sustained R&D activities in the areas of Cellular, Wi-Fi and IoT. Being recognised as a finalist in these awards reinforces our vision of excellence whilst underlining the importance of collaboration in the research ecosystem.

Professor Mark Beach, EPSRC CDT in Communications, University of Bristol added: “Much has been achieved through our proactive research collaboration with u-blox. This dates back to 2012 with the sponsorship and mentoring of Leo Laughlin’s PhD, followed by collaborative R&D through EPSRC Impact Acceleration funding, building-on the innovation from Leo’s and Chunqing (Jack) Zhang’s PhDs. In addition to our Flexible Duplex laboratory demonstrator, we also jointly published our work through the prestigious IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques journal. We are thus truly excited by this nomination.”
