Edmund Optics proudly served as the exclusive industry partner of the 12th International Graduate Summer School on Biophotonics, held 7-14th June, 2025, on the Island of Ven, Sweden. The prestigious programme is co-led by Professor Peter E. Andersen (DTU Health Tech, Denmark) and Professor Stefan Andersson-Engels (Tyndall National Institute, Ireland) and primarily sponsored by SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics.
This biennial event has earned global recognition for delivering graduate-level education in biomedical optics and biophotonics, with a rich legacy dating back to its founding in 2003. Over the course of one intensive week, students, researchers, and global experts gathered for a unique learning experience focused on the role of light in life sciences.
“Edmund Optics is honoured to support this exceptional programme that shapes the next generation of photonics leaders,” said Paul Bilton, Sales Director, Marketplace EMEA. “We from Edmund Optics are proud to be able to announce our two 2025 Biophotonics Scholarship recipients, Maria Júlia de Arruda Mazzotti Marques (University of São Paulo) and Najia Sharmin (University of Hong Kong) and to congratulate them. We were highly impressed by their innovative research proposals and are excited to support their work in the fields of photodynamic inactivation and photoacoustic microscopy.”
These projects reflect the cutting-edge potential of biophotonics to impact healthcare and scientific discovery.
In addition to its sponsorship, Edmund Optics’ active presence underscored the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting the biophotonics community and fostering future innovation. Ongoing exchange and networking with participants and alumni of the Biophotonics Summer School are greatly valued and warmly encouraged.
