University of Dundee student wins young geotechnical engineers’ poster comp

University of Dundee civil engineering PhD student Wei Wang won the 2022 BGA Poster Award for his submission on the use of screw piles for offshore floating wind.

The British Geotechnical Association (BGA) holds an annual poster competition, where young geotechnical professionals can showcase their work.

Wei Wang was announced as the winner of the 2022 Poster Award at the BGA annual general meeting in June.

His poster was on “Cyclic uplift performance of screw piles for offshore floating wind considering installation effects using DEM [discrete element method]”.

It was co-authored by University of Dundee professor of geotechnical engineering in civil engineering Michael Brown and senior lecturer of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering Matteo Ciantia.

There were altogether seven entries to this year’s poster competition. All posters – including the winning entry – can be viewed here.
